Sorry for the silence but it’s been one thing or another here in the desert, distractions galore. I’ve been trying to combine a chapter from the book with a slightly different variation for a post here and it’s not working out well. Has to do with a ‘street photographer’ whose become quite well known and highly respected but whom I believe is a major fraud, and I’ve been trying to connect with Web people who have been extolling the hell out of the guy; they somehow are not able to see him for the fraud I believe he is.
I contacted two ‘Youtube analysts’ whose photo-analyses I usually agree with and respect — both of whom have see this fraud as a semi-genius — and both not only did not want to hear it (my evidence) but actually deleted my comments.
Not wanting to see evidence is not a good sign, IMO.
A separate issue: But am I wrong? This has occurred to me, sort of in the same way I perceive Elon Musk and his Spacex ‘frauds.’ Should I believe my own eyes or everyone else’s? (Technically I am ‘believing’ everyone else’s silence, if not their inability to see.) Be it a question of age or of some other etiology of insanity, is it me? I have to repeat that thought.
And regarding this (fraudulent?) photographer — it does take a bit of analysis and therefore wordage to make a non-photog understand what I’m getting at — would you even care?
I dunno. I think I’ll give it a shot. But first I want to see if my latest try at ‘reason’ with one of these Youtubers bears fruit or is again deleted. Meanwhile, here’s another try at infrared, a self-portrait from yesterday (or was it the day before?).
Someone pls do me a favor and go here

see if my comment is still there, and if it is, respond to it if you want but ask Graeme what he thinks. The other channels are dodging this comment but at least so far and apparently this guy hasn’t deleted it. Tired of people dodging the truth.
I did check out the youtube and there’s now way that it was “fortuitous” and I agree with your assessment. Your comments are still in the comment section.
Thanks. I am hoping he just hasn’t seen it yet (the long one). Be a disappointment if he does not respond. The usual denial, I fear.
Yep, your comments are still there, and you are so right!.
The big obvious detail – the boy in the center being pretty much completely blacked out, impossible aye!. I answered Graeme too.
Did you notice the little kid looking around the corner, the face looking crazy weird?.
BTW, Graeme seems to have doubts too, when he said “No I don’t THINK so”.
I have always noticed for years Allan, people like you (who will call something OUT) , are VERY thin on the ground , as rare as hens teeth, AND are more valuable than GOLD!.
And I have also noticed, the “backup” or support you get from people, is absolutely piss poor, and almost non-existent. Both here, and on Y.T etc.
A SAD state of affairs.
Maybe the fluoride and the telly has destroyed people’s brains and Awakeness.
Thanks, Brett. Check once in a while to see if he deleted some comments, like yours. Were you logged in as ‘Betty’ or was that someone else? Her comment was only up for about an hour then (for me) disappeared. I’m getting pissed off and may spread this issue around the ‘photo’ analysts YT community, who are spineless, most of them. I do want to make 100% sure I am right tho, since someone’s rep is on the line. Right now I am 99% sure, considering I only have to be right once to make my point. In ‘street photography’ NO futzing is allowed, period. looks to me like this guy does it as a matter of course. it’s tantamount to counterfeiting… and he’s perceived as a border-line genius.
You are most welcome Allan!.
I can still read all your (and my couple of) comments on Y.T from MY END…at this moment. I am logged on there as Bretty Eleven.
I’m interested in what you uncover and your right. Who is this photographer, their work, and these analysts?
See above and my email to you.
I fully agree with your first and last critique the photos – the shadows are not consistent. Given this, then many of his other photos should be questioned.
“The first photo is lit by two suns, or is a fabrication (Webb does not/would not use flash here), one or the other. You can see the shadow of the Woman’s head is being thrown by a sun that is from the upper left. The Headphone Guy is lit by a sun coming from the upper right. Impossible.”
and
“(The next photo at 14 minutes also has a shadow problem: All of the seated are lit from DIRECTLY head on. The boy has a sun from frame left. Second to last image, ditto, shadow problem but not so obvious.)”
The others, I don’t have enough experience about lighting to agree or not such as the 8th image with mid-ground-man. Could he be light from behind by the reflection of sun off the window?
Thanks for the thoughts and doubts, Todd. This is what I am looking for. Actually, the one you ask about, the mid-ground shadow is the most obvious to me: It takes way more than a reflection to throw a shadow of that darkness and if you imagine where the light MUST be to make the shadow that long… it must be right behind him and low down. Cannot be high up b/c of how long it is. Imagine a high up shadow and how it makes a much shorter shadow.
I’ve been meaning to catch up on your emails & goings on for longer than a spell. I intend to do so in good time; balancing a busy life while being a ‘musically motivated’ person tends to warp time, discombobulate priorities & create massive To Do lists. But it sounds like you may be working on a New Book? !!! (Like I said I need to catch up=)
If so that’s super exciting & fucking Awesome 👍
On the topic of being a natural born skeptic..
It’s always a tricky conversation for myself because I’ve learned to delineate between what I consider healthy skepticism & fallacy vulnerable. I’ve also learned to accept that some of the most intelligently cool people I know believe some of the weirdest shit. IMO
I do consider the abundance of conspiracy theories bubbling to the surface to be simultaneously healthy & dangerous. Good & evil exist everywhere & shit is always going to happen & life will always be a struggle but there’s obviously a way forward because we’re here now. I’m saying that you & I both have a common ancestor & I’m not talking about the amphibian or the fish or a small mammal. I’m talking about our human ancestor who had the correct set of inferences to survive & pass on. Because the dude that believed it was safer near the grass lake where there’s no lions or reptile deadly, well he died & he’s not our ancestor.
My point is that healthy causal inference will show a process that belief plays no roll in. Even so we’re all going to believe shit that we can’t prove & that’s life. Super successful & highly intelligent folks believe the weirdest shit & so be it as long as there’s no agenda. Yes History shows that many powerful leaders throughout human civilization promoted & prized conspiracy theories & syllogistic mechanisms to control, persuade & manipulate the psychological landscape of society. Again as long as there’s no fucking agenda or fuckery to manipulate the plurality.
So where does that leave us & what the fuck should we believe about a mutually safer & beneficial way forward? Since nobody can predict what tomorrow brings & nobody has ever proved a valid process of predicting the future & it’s extremely difficult to predict people’s motivations & agendas, nobody fucking knows what tomorrow brings.
Here’s some things I heard a lot growing up that may sound funny but have kernals of universal truth about life:
-Life is simpler when you plow around the stumps.
-Mortgaging a future crop is saddling a wobbly colt.
-A bumble bee is faster than a John Deere tractor.
-Teachers, bankers, and hoot owls sleep with one eye open.
-Forgive your enemies. It messes with their heads.
-Every path has some puddles.
-Most of the things people worry about never happen***
*** The dudes that figured out chlorofluorocarbons were converting down to chlorine gas in the upper atmosphere & destroying the ozone worried a lot & were correct to worry but it’s a good lesson about what’s worth worrying about.
I gotta run but stay creative, have some fun & write that next book! I done
Cheers!
I like the list.
” life will always be a struggle” – I disagree, it happens in patches.
What is the “weird shit” beliefs, you have heard from cool people, please??
