Hi folks,
Those of you not interested in my ramblings can scroll down to my latest Postcard from the Road (preliminary indications are that it’s pretty good)…
Thursday the 19th and I’m at a truck stop somewhere in either Arizona or New Mexico, not sure which. Listening to a Red Ice Radio podcast. I have a veritable shitload of podcasts, thanks to a friend made on this journey. She gave me a couple thumb drives crammed with wild stuff – Red Ice, Veritas, Unwelcome Guest, and so forth. Sort of the flip side of the satellite radio imbedded in my dash and which – among crap like Howard Stein – is the audio stream of Mainstream Media TV, i.e., CNN, Fox News, CNBC. Switching back and forth is like wandering through alternative dimensions (or Branches of Reality, as interpreted in Cosmic Banditos).
(By far the best of my podcast stash is my buddy Rich Grove (plus Lisa Arbecheski) doing the Peace Revolution Podcast from Tragedyandhope.com. Rich has a new ‘cast coming out tonight!)
Even the Alternative Media has its own version of The Matrix. Trust me on that. And I’ve had further unfortunate (in my view) communications with supposed ‘truth seekers.’ Some of you may remember my run ins with the likes of Alex Jones and James Corbett, the former having banned me ‘for life’ from his forum – for pointing out that his ‘history’ of FBI agent John O’Neill was… inaccurate. And the latter, Corbett (whom I still recommend, with certain caveats…), having invited me to be on his podcast, reversed his position when he realized I’d criticized Jones. (See my essay.)
And it just keeps going. After an initial encouraging email from Mel Fabregas at Veritas (Mel is a ‘huge fan of Miami Vice’ and dubbed my introductory email as ‘containing very important information’), I apparently ‘made the mistake’ of offering to correct him regarding Judy Wood’s libeling of my friend Jim Fetzer: On a Veritas podcast, Wood in effect accused Jim of murder and of physically threatening Wood (all balderdash) and – even more bizarre – claimed that Jim is a government agent…
Given that Mel repeats ad nauseam that he wants ‘all sides’ to important issues and ‘welcomes conflicting views’, and so forth and so on… Hey, I assumed he really means these things. What I forgot is this: No one wants to be corrected. Ever. No matter how often… wait, check that…. especially if they claim they do want to be corrected.
Ditto with Red Ice, although on a more subtle level.
I’ll sum it up. In looking into HTWW (how the world works) I’ve largely had to go to the ‘Alternative Media’ and have at some point communicated with many ‘names’ of that persuasion. I’ve made a list. Fourteen ‘personalities’. Each and every one of them has turned out – on the level of ‘truth-seeking’ – to be a flaming hypocrite.
I’ll not further names names (I’d have to tell the whole story if I did) but what I mean by ‘flaming hypocrite’ is that they make a point of saying they want to ‘hear it’ when the truth is they do not, not if it corrects some position they have already taken.
‘What else is new, Allan?’ you may be sarcastically thinking. Okay, but it’s different when it’s you who has accepted someone at face value – a podcaster who has enlightened you (usually through his/her guests) then turns out to be at bottom worse than the MSM scumbags they themselves revile.
Since my last email many of you have contacted me, almost always with solid advice about dealing with writers block and depression. I really, really appreciated these messages – I expected more impatience and even sarcasm. Hardly got any of that.
What I’m doing here, i.e., in essence once again complaining about other people, is an attempt to explain (to those who are still interested) the discouragement my silence reflected. (And again, through communicating to you I often clear up internal conflicts, meanwhile – for some of you – shedding at least a bit of light on matters of interest.)
I listen to, say, a hundred podcasts by someone, right? I learn a lot. Am turned on to outside material that further expands my knowledge base, right? I naturally feel… affection for this person, this ‘Alt Media Figure.’ Then I contact the person and find out that the search for truth in HTWW actually has limits. Especially if there is an ego involved.
I gotta tell you: I’m not like that. Let’s say that I have a certain belief and have stated it publicly. Turns out that the belief is in error. Someone corrects me. My reaction is to (metaphorically at least) slap myself on the forehead and go, ‘What an idiot!’ I then correct my erroneous belief, publicly if necessary, and I thank the person who corrected me.
No one, not one person of the Alt Media has thanked me for correcting them. Not one. These are all folks who have repeated (over and over) how they welcome correction.
Another example: Jay Weidner is a smart and lucid independent investigator. He has enlightened me about matters of import. And I told him so and thanked him. Problem is he has the ego issue. (Which I am telling him now.) He’s a truth seeker all right: as long as some bit of truth doesn’t damage his view of himself.
My first mistake (and the only one necessary it seems) was to point out some (minor) errors he has made (and made public) regarding the films of Stanley Kubrick. Again, small errors but not arguable. As I say, me, I’d thank someone who sets me straight. Not Jay. Jay found it necessary to, in effect, insult me.
Keep in mind: As I’ve said before, Jay Weidner helped me see the truth behind what is, on a certain level, the biggest lie in the history of mankind. I mean I already knew that our species had not been to another world via the Apollo missions. I didn’t know exactly how a big part of the illusion was pulled off, i.e., by front screen projection concocted by Stanley Kubrick.
It really means a lot to me that I know how it was done. So it was very disappointing to find that the person who enlightened me on this matter has childish (not childlike) ego issues.
But in a sense it gets worse. Last month I came across an article in aulis.com that validated Weidner’s research on Kubrick and the Apollo hoax. (I’ll not describe it here but you can view the article for yourself.) I knew Weidner was not aware of the piece, which was two years old. Been sitting there archived on the Net for all that time and no one informed Weidner of it.
I knew Weidner’d be just this side of ecstatic at the verification of his hard work and insight.
Mmmmm…. The guy’d insulted me… I could have said ‘Fuck him’ but I didn’t. Sent him the link with a short explanation of what it meant.
Next thing he’s doing an article for Veterans Today on this ‘stunning validation’ of his research. Doesn’t thank me, not a word. The piece he does is pretty good but it has a fairly minor error in it:
Weidner writes (in the VT piece) that the old rear screen projection method (which Kubrick replaced by the superior front screen in 2001; A Space Odyssey and the Apollo missions) looked fake because of a luminosity difference between the foreground and the background (which has the projection on it).
This is simply not the case. Any competent DP (director of photography) could and would easily match the luminosity of the two layers of imagery. The problem is that the rear screen imagery is second generation, which makes it grainier and more contrasty. Period. Weidner – an experienced filmmaker – is simply wrong on this issue. Transparently wrong.
So I corrected him, wrote a complementary comment (about his article) but which also pointed this out.
I did not expect a thank you from Weidner and didn’t get one. What I did not expect was that he would do a radio show a week or so later and repeat the same mistake about luminosity being at issue with rear screen. It’s like the guy has been saying 2 plus 2 equals 5 and refuses to deal with it.
(Those of you who are interested can view Weidner’s VT article here.)
All the way out here in the desert I can hear the Unsubscribe Buttons clicking!
There are many of you who don’t want to hear this. Just don’t. More negative shit from Weisbecker. Especially negative since I have no solution to the problem. The problem of intelligent, lucid people lacking self-reflection.
By the way, I did get one negative email as a response to my last post. The guy said I should quit my ‘fruity truth thing’ and go surfing. Aside from the fact that the guy was giving away his habit of lying whenever he feels like it…
Hey dude, I can chew gum and walk! Know what I mean?
This is getting too long! Sorry! What I really meant to do with this post was just to provide a link to my latest Postcard from the Road:
Talk to you in a week…
Allan
I’m going to give Mexico one more try… if you don’t hear from me next Friday, it’ll be because I’m on the road between El Paso and Saladita and truly Net-less. Forgive me this one time.
For those who haven’t viewed it and are interested, here’s my Revolution Radio show on Apollo:
Parts Two and Three should be on the sidebar (or do a search)
