My good friend Joachim Gerlach, a German national I met in outback Costa Rica in the 90s, and have stayed close with since, is doing marathon research on The Bug (among other things) and has done a great podcast with Doc Cottrell, on the latter’s channel.
Pay attention, especially re his info about Rosemary. I bought a few bottles of tincture from Amazon. As Joachim points out, he is not giving medical advice; he’s just making his research public. This is one case in Internet information wherein I can 100% guarantee there is no hidden agenda. The man’s word is good.
Check it out, and if you’re curious about Joachim, do a word search for his name in the pdf of Can’t You Get Along With Anyone (also in the sidebar); he’s featured in the ‘A Night at the Cantina’ section of the book, some wild and surreal doings on my 50th birthday, overlooking the longest left point break on the planet.
Last time I hung with Joachim was in 2015 when Water Time played at the Berlin Film Festival. We drove to the theatre from his home in his Gull Wing Mercedes; normally a four hour drive on the autobahn, we did it in a bit over an hour. Go to ‘A Quickie from the Gull Wing’ video (30 seconds) and see how it went when Joachim (a former stunt driver) really punched it. (Suffice to say that within a few seconds the clock nudged past 200 (mph).)
(But mainly, watch his podcast!)

Two nights ago, the ‘Visitors’ took the day off, but were back last night (see below image, one of four). Since it was close to dawn I looked into whether it might have been a satellite (they are only visible near dawn and dusk) but it doesn’t look like it. This one was on a south-north trajectory, which is unusual for satellites. I looked up ‘Satellite visibility polar orbit’ and got this:

Last night, this one was visible for four frames (about a minute real time) with 13 second exposures. Note the trajectory, going slightly upwards, another indication it’s not a satellite.
The GOES geostationary satellites are about 22,300 miles above Earth’s equator and require a telescope to see, but you may be able to see a polar orbiting satellite (orbiting about 500 miles about Earth’s surface) with just a pair of binoculars or, if it’s dark enough, just your eyes!
If you’re curious about satellite visibility, check out this link. As I’ve explained before, these objects are not meteors either, as you should be able to figure out on your own; the length of visibility, trajectories, and so forth, do not match satellites. Plus, meteors (‘shooting stars) are so dim and quick, I’ve only picked up two in total, in several years shooting. And these (like below) would have been seen as ‘fireballs.’
The only other possibility is conventional aircrafts briefly turning on their landing lights, maybe so another aircraft can identify them. This seems unlikely, given the almost nightly appearances of… whatever this stuff is.
Addendum: Checking out the Gull Wing video, I noticed someone had put a bit of ‘A Night at the Cantina’ in Comments. I’ll paste it in here:
“Erik and Joachim: the two in camo and blackface roaring down the rutted dirt track between Pavones and Pilon in their stripped vintage Land Cruiser, quivered-out surf racks tagging them as warrior/waveriders, on moonless nights their headlights and million-candlepower spot the only illumination for 20 clicks on this wild, lawless coast (no electricity back then).
The two scanning the dense, ink black bush of potential fields of fire, popping off rounds from their AK and sawed off twelve to let the Down South world know that of the remaining norte landowners who hadn’t been driven off by precarista [squatter] intimidation and outright violence, there were a couple left who were out there ready to rock and roll, maybe kick some ass of their own.”
Shit, I’m having a fit of nostalgia. Looked up what photos I have from the time period of the excerpt. The cantina burned to the ground a few years ago, gone but not forgotten….

This section is right in front of the cantina wall, just 30 – 40 yards offshore. It then wraps into the next bay, which is visible in the other photo.
And holy shit, do I miss that wave.
