So why do I bother trying to correct people like this (or subject you to their mental problems)? Partly to rationalize my occasional silences, which are often based on discouragement, i.e., the knowledge that (to quote Kurt Vonnegut) ‘No one ever changes his mind about anything’. I can’t help myself. Like I couldn’t help myself aggravating Sean Penn, even though doing so actually killed a deal with HBO. I don’t think it’s a self-destructive instinct, although this has occurred to me, especially given my lunatic hunt for the truth of the treachery of my psychopathic ex-girlfriend, Lisa (as recounted in Can’t You Get Along With Anyone?). Basically, everyone who enters has to take a test (a PCR test that is both useless and inaccurate) and quarantine for three days, and then must test negative. No one is going to visit New York! Not only that, but what about truckers bringing food? Nope!
If you wanted to kill all business in New York and guarantee shortages of food and everything else, you would do this. All this is for a virus that over 99% of the people who get it recover? This–the total destruction of my state–is for my health? There are no lawsuits and injunctions to stop this total tyranny and madness?

I loved In Search of Captain Zero. I often wonder what became of Chris. I had a friend go through a similar circumstance. Hurt like hell to eulogize him. I loved In Search of Captain Zero. I often wonder what became of Chris. I had a friend go through a similar circumstance. Hurt like hell to eulogize him. Anyhow, I put Zero right up there with Dharma Bums, in terms of capturing the feeling of freedom that comes with life on the road. A book that sits on your dashboard, as you’re eating up miles. A book that gets passed around. The jI recently gave it to my twenty year old son and I know he will love it too.
Allan, in my opinion, if you want to change the world, you’ve got to stop it with this conspiracy shit and write material that speaks to the young wanderers heart. Material that highlights the importance of empathy and friendship, trust and unseen commonalities. Forgiveness and love. Nature and silence. Gratitude. You have a lot to teach the next generation, but your current curriculum is all fucked up.
You have a gift. It was given to you. Honour what you’ve been given.

The Dunning-Kruger effect is alive and well on both “sides” of the current divide. Trump has done nothing to help narrow the distance of the divide. His problem is that he has never worked for anyone and can’t grasp the concept that he “works for the people” of America. Vonnegut said it and I will not change my mind about voting for Biden. Your blog HAS had an effect on how I see the world. There…you’ve heard it. Always listen to both sides of an argument.
